Japanese Star in UTM

Something extremely extraordinary had happened yesterday (18 Novermber 2008) morning in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, or more casually known as UTM. Yes, indeed, something was really something that only happened once in a blue moon, no maybe once in your entire life!

Everyone seemed so anxious. They could hardly sit still. Some even bit their own nails. Some even hold their breathe when the emcee was introducing the special guess. The atmosphere was so strange, even weirder than the atmosphere in the X-File series. The cameraman (BERNAMA), however, was extremely calm.

Once the curtain rolled up, everyone finally had the golden chance to get a glimpse of this special guess of honour or you can even called her a star. She walked slowly on the stage in really small steps while waving at the crowds gorgeously.

Within split seconds, the crowds dash forward like crazy. Some kiddos even fell down as the result of crowds pushing. Dozens of cameras suddenly popped up out of nowhere. Blazing flash lightened up the whole place for quite a few minutes.

2008年11月18日早上，一件很奇妙的事情发生在工艺大学，简称工大。是的，这的确是一件很微妙的事情，也许一生中只能够那么一次碰到它。

每个人都是那么紧张。有些目不转眼地追看着主词人、有些甚至咬手指甲、有些有些甚至忘了呼吸。这奇妙的这奇妙的气氛，甚至可以媲美X档案内的气氛。但是，BERNAMA摄影师依旧那么镇定地把整个过程拍下。

当窗帘布慢慢地张开时，每位来客终于有黄金机会见到这位神秘嘉宾了，你甚至可以称她为大明星。她一边向观众挥挥手，一边慢条斯理地在台上漫步。

她的一出现，人潮立刻疯狂般地涌上。有一两位小孩不小心摔到了，也许是斗不过人潮拥挤吧。几十台相机立刻出现在大明星的眼前，闪亮个不停。

Brief introduction of ASIMO (taken from Wikipedia):

ASIMO stands for "Advanced Step in Mobility". ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by Honda Motor Company. Standing at 130 cm and weighing 54 kg. The robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run ontwo feet at speeds up to 6 km/h. ASIMO was created at Honda's Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan. It is the current model in a line of eleven that began in 1986 with E0.

Officially, the name is an acronym for "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility". Honda's official statements claim that the robot's name is not a reference to science fiction writer and inventor of the Three Laws of Robotics, Isaac Asimov.

As of 2007, there are 46 ASIMO units in existence. Each one costs less than $1 million.

ASIMO first gave the crowd every bits of shock by demonstrating some great skills. She can:

Before ASIMO left UTM, there was a quiz section. Anyone who can successfully answer the question correctly, he/she can take a picture with ASIMO on the stage. Well, I did put up my hands so that the emcee would select me to answer the questions, but, alas, the emcee only aimed for kiddos. So, really no luck to be chosen at all. Only 20 questions were asked and 20 lucky person were chosen.

在ASIMO在还没离开前，主办当局准备了一些小小测验给观众，答对的人可以与ASIMO合照。我又举手，甚至举了两只手。但是，可悲的是主词人只选小孩们，未免太过偏心了。一共有20题。
