Japanese Star in UTM

Something extremely extraordinary had happened yesterday (18 Novermber 2008) morning in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, or more casually known as UTM. Yes, indeed, something was really something that only happened once in a blue moon, no maybe once in your entire life!

Everyone seemed so anxious. They could hardly sit still. Some even bit their own nails. Some even hold their breathe when the emcee was introducing the special guess. The atmosphere was so strange, even weirder than the atmosphere in the X-File series. The cameraman (BERNAMA), however, was extremely calm.

Once the curtain rolled up, everyone finally had the golden chance to get a glimpse of this special guess of honour or you can even called her a star. She walked slowly on the stage in really small steps while waving at the crowds gorgeously.

Within split seconds, the crowds dash forward like crazy. Some kiddos even fell down as the result of crowds pushing. Dozens of cameras suddenly popped up out of nowhere. Blazing flash lightened up the whole place for quite a few minutes.

2008年11月18日早上，一件很奇妙的事情发生在工艺大学，简称工大。是的，这的确是一件很微妙的事情，也许一生中只能够那么一次碰到它。

每个人都是那么紧张。有些目不转眼地追看着主词人、有些甚至咬手指甲、有些有些甚至忘了呼吸。这奇妙的这奇妙的气氛，甚至可以媲美X档案内的气氛。但是，BERNAMA摄影师依旧那么镇定地把整个过程拍下。

当窗帘布慢慢地张开时，每位来客终于有黄金机会见到这位神秘嘉宾了，你甚至可以称她为大明星。她一边向观众挥挥手，一边慢条斯理地在台上漫步。

她的一出现，人潮立刻疯狂般地涌上。有一两位小孩不小心摔到了，也许是斗不过人潮拥挤吧。几十台相机立刻出现在大明星的眼前，闪亮个不停。

Hmm, I guess it was too hard after all. Alright, let me tell you she was.

呵呵，是否开始紧张了呢？好吧，就让我给你们一些贴士。这位神秘嘉宾是位日本大明星。是的，你没听错，一位鼎鼎大名的日本大明星于早上10点抵达工艺大学。试看猜一猜她是谁。想一想。

也许太难了吧。好吧，那我就告诉你们她的点点滴滴。

Brief introduction of ASIMO (taken from Wikipedia):

ASIMO stands for "Advanced Step in Mobility". ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by Honda Motor Company. Standing at 130 cm and weighing 54 kg. The robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run ontwo feet at speeds up to 6 km/h. ASIMO was created at Honda's Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan. It is the current model in a line of eleven that began in 1986 with E0.

Officially, the name is an acronym for "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility". Honda's official statements claim that the robot's name is not a reference to science fiction writer and inventor of the Three Laws of Robotics, Isaac Asimov.

As of 2007, there are 46 ASIMO units in existence. Each one costs less than $1 million.

ASIMO first gave the crowd every bits of shock by demonstrating some great skills. She can:

Before ASIMO left UTM, there was a quiz section. Anyone who can successfully answer the question correctly, he/she can take a picture with ASIMO on the stage. Well, I did put up my hands so that the emcee would select me to answer the questions, but, alas, the emcee only aimed for kiddos. So, really no luck to be chosen at all. Only 20 questions were asked and 20 lucky person were chosen.

在ASIMO在还没离开前，主办当局准备了一些小小测验给观众，答对的人可以与ASIMO合照。我又举手，甚至举了两只手。但是，可悲的是主词人只选小孩们，未免太过偏心了。一共有20题。

这个星期一傍晚，我从我家乡搭飞机回来大学。在飞机上，我阅读了心灵鸡汤（Chicken Soup for the Soul - Celebrating People Who Make a Difference）。

这本心灵鸡汤真的写地很棒，当中少不了许许多多的超感人的故事。

阅读时，也许太过沉迷于故事当吧，眼泪 汗水不知不觉从眼睛流了出来。哇，我赶紧把帽子拉底下来，望向窗外，轻轻地把眼泪擦掉。

怎么啦？为何那么轻易就流泪汗了？

还记得以前观看一套日剧《一公升的眼泪》时，哭得很惨，而且从第二局哭到最后一局（第十一局）。但，最重要的事，从中得到勇气，努力生存下去，学会珍惜生命。

最近比较烦。考试方面，有一两张考卷特别难的。哎，看来我这个学期会死得很惨。T_______T

This Monday evening, I took a flight from my hometown back to my university. On the flight, I read Chicken Soup for the Soul - Celebrating People Who Make a Difference.

This book was really well-written, with tonnes of touching stories.

While reading, maybe I was too into the stories, tears sweat started rolling down my cheeks. Gosh, I quickly pulled down my cap, looked away at the window, wiped off my tears sweat gently.

Now what? Why tears sweat dripping down so easily?

I can still remember when I watched a Japanese Drama named "1 Liter of Tears", I cried a lot, from the second episode until the last episode (the eleventh episode). But the most important thing is that I had gathered up strength to live my life to the fullest.

I am quite troubled lately. In term of test, there were one or two paper that is extraordinary hard. Haiz, looks like I would be in deep trouble. T_______T

Umm, well, but I still have another semester to go, whereas this program starts at January next year. So, I think I won't go for it. Thanks for offering me anyway.

Ouch, that really hurt. I flew back just for an interview, and yet, why did the outcome turned out to be like this? Did I just wasted my 400 bucks? Never mind.

On my way back (7 Nov 2008)

终于，我所等待的这一天来临了。我即将飞回我的家乡，美里。它位于东马砂砬越的 北区。

抵达机场时，我到蓝梅（Lavendar)，买了些面包填肚子。结果买了日式乳酪。软软的，非常好吃，非常值得进入大家的肚子。呵呵。


Finally, the day I have been waiting for has come. I am going back to my hometown, Miri. It is located at the north of Sarawak.

When I reached the Senai Airport, I went to Lavendar and ordered some bread. I chose Japanese Cheese Stick. It's tender soft made this cheese stic really something you guys should buy one and pop it into your mouth.

考试前夕 Before Exam

前文：现在是考试的季节

深更半夜，有几个人影在球场上飞舞。一粒羽毛球在空中飞翔着，久久不着地。望一望手表，已经两点凌晨了。现在不是睡觉时间咩？只见两位实力可媲美奥运会健将的男孩儿们在忘我的情况下，依旧在球场上飞舞。

呵呵，还有更多更奇妙的现象哦。

比如说，熟睡时，突然被一些怪物似的尖叫声吵醒了。望一望表，才三点凌晨罢了。又是一位受不起压力的人的解脱方式。

打开了房门，走出了房间，望一望宿舍，发现到依然有许多房间的灯还亮着。一些正在埋头苦干地温习功课。难道他们不用睡的吗？

偶尔听到阵阵的枪声、怪物的临死的惨叫声、一些日语对话（大概是动漫的对白）、戏剧里的经典笑声、观众的欢呼声（大概是踢进了球时的欢呼声）。。。

哎，难道面临考试的前夕有那么多压力吗？甚至忘了睡眠。

我呢，哎，还是老样子。呵呵。不知道是好事还是相反的。管它了，人生就是要享受才对的。

Intro: It is the season of Final Exam currently

In the middle of the night, some shadows were dancing on court. A badminton shuttle soared in the sky gracefully without touching the floor. Glancing at the watch, it was already 2am. Isn't it the time for normal human beings to sleep? Those two 'Olympic-leveled' guys seemed to have entered some self-unawareness state, kept on dancing on the court.

There are much more unique situations wor.

For example, while still in sweet dreams, suddenly awoken up by some monstrous noises. Glancing at the wrist watch, it was just 3am. Again, another self-invent method of releasing stress by someone who couldn't take it anymore.

Open up the door, took a walk out of my room and took a quick glance at my hostel, man, there were still so rooms with the light on. Some were busy burning their midnight oil. Do these guys do not need any sleep?

Quite often, the air was filled with gun shots, inhuman shrieks before death, some Japanese dialogues (most probably animes' dialogues), comedian laughter, some goal celebration shouts...

Haiz, is it that stressful when facing test? Even up to the state of forgetting sleep?

Well, as for me, hehe, it was still the same old me. Don't know if this is a good thing or the opposite.
